These Are The 15 Most Kawaii Cat Cafes In The World
In Japan, there’s a place called Tashirojima, or more commonly known to tourists as Cat Island. You can guess where it gets its name from, unfortunately, there is no cat café on that island. But if Japan has Cat Island, then Japan itself is Cat Country. Since its first cat café’s opening in Osaka, Tokyo quickly caught up as it becomes one of the world’s fastest growing metropolitan. Now there are almost about 80 cat cafés all over Japan!
Like Singapore and Seoul, Tokyo’s landscape is made up of high-rise buildings and cramped studio apartments (or tiny condominiums). High work-stress levels and strict rules in such apartments on safety and pets are just about the norm. So these urbanites turn to cat cafés to fulfil their lack of feline love.
So it’s no wonder that Japan has the most number of cat cafés – seeing that they are pretty much like a crazy cat lady. Also, not to forget the overwhelmingly popular Hello Kitty was borne from nihon!

The human owners and staff keep the place running as the cats order them around when they are not sleeping. Anyway, according to its website, it was supposed to be the first cat café to open in 2005 but “【猫の時間】さん” (Mr. Neko no Jikan) beat them to it and opened in 2004.
