Cosplayers Around the World Feature : Attyca from Canada
4. Most memorable cosplay and why?
My most memorable cosplay will always be Kadaj because it was my first popular one, so it was quite a shock getting all those pictures taken the first time! It was also the year where I met a lot of my long time friends, so I’ll never forget it.
5. What is your next cosplay project?
Right now I’m working on Zuko from ATLA and Hope from FF13, I have my eyes set on a concept art for Blade and Soul as well since I’m a nerd for Hyung Tae Kim. I’m kind of switching over to selling at Artists Alley now since, unfortunately, real life demands are kicking in so cosplay is on a back burner. Pftt…real life, what’s that?
6. Tell us about some memorable experiences in your costume or prop making.
Memorable? Well I remember regretting ever using fiberglass, that’s for sure. It’s an awesome material, but if you don’t have a workshop….not a nice experience. I guess the best memories are the ones where you finish in time 😛 Which happened……once……

7. What are some advice you would like to give to cosplay newbies?
Tutorials! Years ago in the dark days of 2007 there weren’t a lot of tutorials around yet, but with cosplay becoming even more popular since then there are amazing resources out there to use. You might as well learn from other people’s mistakes if you can get away with it. Though you get a cool sense of accomplishment if you discover things for yourself. Also, I know a lot of people can’t sew/craft but try to learn if you can, they’re good skills to have and you’ll feel even more awesome strutting around in something you made yourself.
And last but not least…
Thanks for interviewing me, it’s nice to have hard work recognized!
